Forclosed house...
Posted On 07/28/2008 16:48:20 by jolynn480

This is a "BIG RED GO FIGURE." A negro famliy in Georgia had a piss poor house (the septic tank was faulty LOL). So what does ABC do? They build them a new one and a damn nice one at that. So what does the family do with their new found lux pad? They have it forclosed. How do you ask? They put it up for collaterel so they can "invest" in a new business venture of theirs. Here, these folks were handed a brand spanking new house (that is nicer than my living conditions) and they squander it. They use people for their own gain. They abuse a gift. Read more and feel just as angry as I do.

LAKE CITY, Ga. - More than 1,800 people showed up to help ABC's "Extreme Makeover" team demolish a family's decrepit home and replace it with a sparkling, four-bedroom mini-mansion in 2005.

Three years later, the reality TV show's most ambitious project at the time has become the latest victim of the foreclosure crisis.

After the Harper family used the two-story home as collateral for a $450,000 loan, it's set to go to auction on the steps of the Clayton County Courthouse Aug. 5. The couple did not return phone calls July 28, but told WSB-TV they received the loan for a construction business that failed. OAS_AD('ArticleFlex_1')

The house was built in January 2005, after Atlanta-based Beazer Homes USA and ABC's "Extreme Makeover" demolished their old home and its faulty septic system. Within six days, construction crews and hoards of volunteers had completed work on the largest home that the television program had yet built.

The finished product was a four-bedroom house with decorative rock walls and a three-car garage that towered over ranch and split-level homes in their Clayton County neighborhood. The home's door opened into a lobby that featured four fireplaces, a solarium, a music room and a plush new office.

Materials and labor were donated for the home, which would have cost about $450,000 to build. Beazer Homes' employees and company partners also raised $250,000 in contributions for the family, including scholarships for the couple's three children and a home maintenance fund.

ABC said in a statement that it advises each family to consult a financial planner after they get their new home. "Ultimately, financial matters are personal, and we work to respect the privacy of the families," the network said.

Some of the volunteers who helped build the home were less than thrilled about the family's financial decisions.

"It's aggravating. It just makes you mad. You do that much work, and they just squander it," Lake City Mayor Willie Oswalt, who helped vault a massive beam into place in the Harper's living room, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

I see it as stupidity. It's almost like similar to risking a $2000 Colt to try to save another Horse with a few Dollars, or risking a $40,000 Luxury Car to try to save an old beat up car worth $100 Max. Anyone who lets a great new oportunity blow, obviously is dumber than a Dog. Even a Rock is smarter than that. 88

While I can agree with most of your comments about the Harper family being ungrateful, I have a slight bone to pick with you.

I would never find myself socializing with black folks, much less call them my "friends." I have had to work professionally with blacks in the past (school projects, work, etc) and would never go out of my way to "befriend" these people. While I was not happy to have to work with these people, I got what I had to do done to pass the course or assignment. I would strongly consider who you call your friends. These people should not be our friends. They "use" the system every chance they get (affirmative action, welfare, etc), so that they can advance in this world. I could go on and an about black on white crime (which you would stand a higher rate of since you choose to socialize with these people)... Instead, I will stick to the topic of the article: yes, it makes me sick- yes, they "spit" in the face of all those that helped out and yes- they should face reticule in their communities. They had an opportunity (once again, blacks get a "leg up") and choose to screw it up.

Seeing how your profile is void of information (i.e your about me section), I can only assume you are troll trying to "rile" people up. Well, you are not going to get me fired up. I feel sorry for naive folks like yourself.

It is discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit.
