The Israeli regime's prosecutors have indicted former finance minister Avraham Hirchson on charges of theft, fraud and breach of trust.
Hirchson, a stalwart of the ruling Kadima party and a close ally of prime minister Ehud Olmert who himself now faces allegations of corruption, is accused of involvement in aggravated theft and fraud, embezzlement, obstruction of justice and conspiring to commit a crime.
Hirchson stepped down last year -- a year after he was appointed -- amid accusations hanging over him from his time as trade union leader.
Hirchson is accused of embezzling funds belonging to a non-profit organization linked to a trade union body. He has denied any wrongdoing.
Olmert is also under criminal investigation, which threatens to drive him from office. Olmert has denied any wrongdoing and has rebuffed calls to step down over allegations that he took envelopes stuffed with cash from a US businessman.
Olmert is accused of three criminal corruption cases.
The corruption of officials at the helm of the Zionist regime is not a new phenomenon. Former prime minister Ariel Sharon was also accused of bribery and corruption.
