Posted On 03/02/2008 00:55:24 by parchmann36
Let me start off by saying everyone I have met on this site has been very nice. And to those responsibile for this site my deepest salute and gratitude to you . For these resons I would like to share something I hope you all will enjoy.Just thought I would share this story it happened 8 years agoI work for a company for reasons I will not name however one day a guest fell while waiting in line I am an Medical E.M.T I.V Tech upon my immeadiate arrival to the area I found an elderly man on the ground who had a heart attack as I am opening his shirt I saw a german (Dog Tag) my grandfather and his two brothers fought for germany in WW II so I new what it was immeadatelyaco-worker of mine was opening the AED and I had hooked the elderly man up to some oxygen as it was in the way I went to remove it and was all of a sudden he grabbed my fist and was trying to speck in german. As I am of german desent I could understand what he was saying and told him in my best german that he would be alright  I would take care of him and mae sure he got the best of care.  After the medics came and picked him up he was taken to the hospital. It was at the end of me shift by that time and I went immeadately to the hospital. I  have some friends that work there and was able to see him once he doctors was through with hm abou t 9 hours later. I came in and he said you were the one that was there when I had my episode (Mild heart attack) he made a full recovery in the end. Isaid yes and he askedd how I knew german and I told him my familt was from germany and my grandfather fought  for germany he was a panzer commander. He yold me that he was a vetren also and asked me who my grandfather was with there. I told him and he said it was very interesting about that time a nurse came in and said thta he needed to go for some more teats at that point I had to leave he give me his address and told me tast I needed to contact him in  few days. I came and saw him everyday and brought him things i thought he ould need shaving razors and such. Here is where it gets wierd I came to pick him up when he was released and took him home which was about 125 miles from where I lived upon arrival he suggersted that since it was so late that I spend the night . He made some coffe and went into the bck room and returned with a box of photos and some scraps of his service papers him and my granfather was in the same panzer unit. He did not remember him because there were several units but they for a while were in the same areas. We have remained very close friends  since and I have learned alot from him about alot of things. The amount of things that I have been told and learned can not be found in any book I am very grateful (words can not describe) in my friendship with this man that I have for a long time considered a 2nd grandfather. I have over 400 photos that his aunt managed to hide and save for him and have several hours of video and audio not to mention all that I have written down.Out of the highest respect for his privacy and peace I will not mention his nae or anything else about him in that way but I told him his story needs to be shared. I am working on an book and a video of all of his times through the war and hitler youth corp as my promise to him I will not tell until his departure from this life. Well thank-you for listening or should I say reading story.

The best look into history is through the eyes of honorable men who lived it and are willing to tell the story. Much better than the sanitized, strategically picked through history, and often outright lies printed in the history books. You got a rare look into what really happened, you are indeed lucky.
