I've been thinking a lot about the situation in the Southern part of the U.S. during the 1960's.  You had a group of White people who all shared a common ethnicity(mostly Scots-Irish), common religion(mostly Baptist and Church of Christ), common culture(Southern), and all of them believed in keeping the White race separate from the black race.
