NYC School Teacher Simonette Mapes-Crupi Found Brutally Stabbed To Death

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A New York City school teacher was found stabbed to death inside her Staten Island apartment Thursday afternoon.
Simonette Mapes-Crupi, 29, was found face down in a pool of blood by her husband, Jonathan Crupi, in their New Springville apartment around 1:50 p.m. Authorities said she was stabbed multiple times.
Police tape blocked off off a portion of the condominium complex on Forest Hills Road, hours after police said they got a 911 call from the victim’s husband.
Police initially looked into a home invasion theory, but sources told CBS 2 there was no evidence to support it, other than a home in disarray, CBS 2′s Sean Hennessey reported.
Jonathan Crupi has been questioned by police. Police have not made any arrests yet nor have they released a possible motive.
Neighbor Rachel Havia said she came home and saw police everywhere. The victim’s relatives were also extremely distraught.
“People were passing out on the lawn from crying, screaming, saying ‘When did this happen?’” Havia told 1010 WINS’ Holli Haerr.
Interestingly, just a week ago, the teacher posted a near-death experience on her Facebook page, writing: “Crupi and I survived a shootout today…Thank God we are ok…To all the wanna be gangstas of Staten Island (who say they are from Brooklyn but really aren’t), be grateful you have what you have and stop trying to live a lifestyle you will never understand.”
Havia and other neighbors said the couple kept to themselves and were often seen walking their dogs in the complex, which sits next to a park and golf course.
Mapes-Crupi worked at a number of schools, most recently in East New York, Brooklyn, where she was about to start summer school.
An uncle of the victim told CBS 2′s Hennessey that his niece was an “angel from heaven.”

Three suspects have been arrested after a woman was sexually assaulted in a Miami-Dade parking lot Monday.
Miami-Dade police said the 29-year-old woman was walking toward her car in a parking lot at Northwest 85th Street and Fourth Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. when three men attacked her, sexually assaulting her at gunpoint.
The attackers stole the woman's cellphone and left in her car, police said.

Two other suspects, Jonathan Andrew Miller, 18, and a 17-year-old boy, were later arrested.
Miami-Dade police said the three suspects confessed to robbing and sexually assaulting the woman.

The three suspects face charges of armed sexual battery, armed robbery with a firearm, sexual battery by multiple perpetrators and grand theft auto.
Clark has been arrested in the past on charges of robbery, narcotics, carrying a concealed firearm, assault on a police officer, battery, burglary and resisting arrest.
