A father threw himself on top of his son in a desperate bid to shield him from a knife-wielding gang who stabbed him to death in the street.
Lukie Fitzpatrick (right) and a friend, moments before the murder.
Luke Fitzpatrick, 25, was murdered after a group of men armed with bats and knives dragged him out of a north London pub on Saturday night.
Friends and relatives of the roofer told today how his father, Bernard, was stabbed several times while trying to protect him from his attackers.
Mr Fitzpatrick’s attackers were described as acting like “a pack of wolves” by storming into the the pub near his home in Dollis Hill.
Police said the killing followed an argument in the pub though some witnesses said it ocurred after a dispute in a shop opposite.
Three people were arrested, including two 17-year-old men who still being questioned in custody today.
The victim’s best friend, Ricci Whiteside, 25, who was with him all evening said: “There was an argument in the shop opposite the pub at half-time. Luke wasn’t anything to do with it, but we all heard that something had gone on.
“A group of black guys arrived at the door of the pub with bats and knives and they were looking for someone who had been outside the shop earlier.
“People were throwing chairs at the door to try and stop them from coming in.
“There was a lot of confusion. They got Luke and dragged him outside. They were pulling him up the road.
“His dad was running after them. But by the time he got to Luke he was already on the floor. Bernie threw himself on top of Luke. He was trying to protect him, but it was too late.”
Tess Fitzpatrick, Bernard Fitzpatrick’s sister, said: “The men who came for Luke were like a pack of wolves. My brother ran after them as they were dragging Luke up the street.
“He covered him with his body, but they had already stabbed Luke all over.”
Ms Fitzpatrick said she had spent yesterday at the bedside of her brother, 56, who is believed to have been stabbed four times. He suffered massive internal injuries after one of the stab wounds punctured his liver.
Last night more than 100 friends and family gathered at the crossroads outside The Ox and Gate Pub on Oxgate Lane, where Luke was watching the Champions League final prior to the attack.
Many left tributes and flowers. One card read: “Luke, you was a true gent. I’ll never forget you.”
Friends and family told described Luke, who was single, as a big-hearted, energetic hard-worker, who was well known in the community.
Luke’s mother Constance, 56, was in Majorca with her other son Ryan, 21 on Saturday night. She flew back to London yesterday morning.
A relative at their home, just metres from the pub said last night: “She has just come back and she is grieving. She is terribly upset.”
A forensic tent was in place this morning at the murder scene, which remained cordoned off.
Detective Chief Inspector Tim Duffield said: “We urgently need to hear from anyone who was in or near the Ox and Gate pub around 11.30pm that evening.”
Websites of the “antifa” gang, a violent Marxist/”Anti-Racist” network, is claiming responsibility for an armed attacked on a Chicago restaurant. A meeting was occurring at the restaurant called the “White Nationalist Economic Summit.” The participates of the meeting apparently organized it on the internet forum stormfront.org. At least one of the victims was not a participant in the meeting. The manager of the restaurant was among the injured.
“Antifa” is a network of violent Marxist gangs that advocate the use of violence to silence people they disagree with. Anyone to the right of Morris Dees is a potential target for their violence. “Antifa” groups has committed violence against people who demonstrate at abortion clinics as well. “Antifa” websites identify the local Chicago gang as “South Side Chicago Anti-Racist Action.”
The group has a history of violence in Chicago. Recently Chicago members posted pictures of a young Chicago woman online with her home address and work address. Supporters were urged to harass the woman at work. She was identified as the ex-girlfriend of one of their leaders. The harassment campaign was apparently retaliation for dumping one of their gang leaders.
Police are holding five suspects. Police say up to 20 people were involved in the attack.
From Chicago Tribune…
The woman said when she emerged, she saw the attacking group attacking patrons with bats and hammers.
All the dishes and plates were knocked off the tables and smashed, and people were either lying on the ground bleeding or crouched behind tables, she said.
She described one of the hammers left behind at the scene as a railroad hammer with a 24-inch handle.
“They took out the whole restaurant,” she said. “It was absolutely horrible.”
Another waitress said most of the attackers looked to be in their late teens. She also said the attackers screamed obscenities throughout the incident.
At one point, the first woman said, the restaurant’s manager chased after an attacker who tried to flee but was struck from behind and beaten.
The woman described the restaurant, where she has worked for eight years, as an Irish establishment that typically draws several generations of families.
Remember the large hulking thug who brutally beat a mentally disabled white woman for the fun of it in Sacramento, California? His friend videotaped the assault for the website worldstarhiphop. That website routinely features videos of unprovoked racially motivated black on white attacks.
Police say he may be one of two black men who committed a new vicious hate crime mob attack on a small, skinny white man.
Notice all mention of race is censored in the media report:

Investigators with the Broward Sheriff’s Office used the video to help them identify at least four people who allegedly jumped and attacked Tamarac student Celina Bennett, 18, on Wednesday after class, according to arrest reports.
Bennett told investigators she was jumped by a group of classmates just a few blocks from their school, Life Skills Center, an alternative Broward County charter school.
The video shows Bennett being pummeled by several others a few blocks east from the school at 2360 W. Oakland Park Boulevard. Bennett suffered a bruised eye and was briefly hospitalized.
The classmates arrested were identified as: Kennyque Lawrence, 20, of Sunrise; Keisha Fradin, 20, of Sunrise; Wayneisha Jones, 18, of Lauderdale Lakes and a female juvenile who was not identified. All are charged with one count of battery. Two of the three adults were still in jail Friday afternoon on $1,000 bond.
Bennett’s father, Ben Bennett, a former BSO deputy, said he accompanied investigators to the school late Thursday and the four females tried to run away through a back door at the school.
Earlier this week, the father spoke about the pain he felt of watching the video of his daughter being attacked.
“In all my years in law enforcement, I never had to deal with a situation where the crime was against my child,” the father said. “ First viewing, I couldn't view it. It was difficult to see her laying on the ground and having that many people attacking her.”
On Friday, Bennett said he would like to see those who were arrested get some help.
“We can’t make this a revolving door or throw away the key,” he said. “I would like to see the community come together and help these kids.”

Martha Jones, 29, said she was browsing inside the store when Davis walked past her and shoved the knife into her lower back.
“I felt something behind me,” said Jones, a Dallas-based lawyer, from her bed at Parkland Memorial Hospital. “He stabbed me in the back and kept walking.”
Jones remained in the hospital in good condition Friday.
She said Davis never spoke to her, or even tried to grab her purse. She said she had never seen him before.
Although court documents say Jones lost a lot of blood, she was able to call for help and provide security a good description of the suspect. Dallas police arrested Davis a block away.
Davis faces an aggravated assault charge, and remains in the Dallas County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
